A new report on 1.5 degrees has been issued by Boell, Misereor and Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND). “A change of course: How to build a fair future in a 1.5° world” was released on 28 October 2016. The report critiques mainstream climate politics solutions including offsetting, negative emissions/BECCS and geoengineering. It focuses on highlighting the real solutions requiring focus when aiming for 1.5°C such as a radical transformation of all sectors of the economy, an immediate coal phase out, ecosystem restoration and agroecology. “A change of course: How to build a fair future in a 1.5° world” presents alternatives of how we can stay within the 1.5 degree limit and achieve climate justice and sustainable development.
