1.5°C – Mobilising action and political will for a safer future” is a side event at the UN Climate Change Conference at Marrakech (UNFCCC COP22) focused on mobilization for achieving the 1.5 degrees Celsius limit of the Paris Agreement. The inclusion of the 1.5°C limit in the Paris Agreement was a key achievement from the perspective of vulnerable countries and com-munities, conveying a message of hope to survive and thrive under a changing climate. Now it is time to take steps for its implementation and to build up mobilisation in policy and practice in the run-up to the key political moment of 2018. The side event will discuss recent developments with regard to 1.5°C and key actions and decisions that need to be taken.
